At 9am you will meet your friendly A la Francaise guide who is ready to share his wealth of knowledge on the historical sites in Provence.
Departure for Nîmes : great city of the arts, proud of its prestigious Roman past, see the antique buildings : the Arena (entrance included), visit with the audio-guide and the « Maison Carrée » (or Square House, one of the best preserved Roman temples).
Next on your historical tour of Provence is a visit to the medieval town of Uzès. The first Duchy of France, this town is set in the garrigues countryside (mediterranean vegetation). See the Place aux Herbes (picturesque square), the Episcopal Palace, the Ducal Palace, the Fenestrelle Tower (a unique bell-tower) and the Cathedral. Outside of Uzès is the catchment area of the Roman aqueduct Pont du Gard that brought spring water to Nîmes.
Pont du Gard dates from the first century and is classified by UNESCO, it's the most amazing and well preserved part of the Roman acqueduct which supplied water to Nîmes. This is a fascinating and very important part of any historical tour in Provence.
End your day with the visit of Orange antique theatre (entrance included) and a photo stop at the Triumphal Arch.
Note: some events take place during the year inside the Arena of Nimes. In this case the visit of the Arena will be replaced by a photo stop around the monument.
