Luberon markets and villages from Aix-en-Provence
Your tour starts in Aix-en-Provence when you meet your friendly local guide. Set off in the our comfort minivan and enjoy the picturesque views of Provence as you go.
Your guide is an expert in the region and knows all of the best markets to take you to. You will enjoy walking through the colourful stalls, taking in the unique sights, sounds and smell of an authentic Provence market.
Your first visit of the day is to one the of the most famous of the Luberon villages; Gordes. Enjoy some time in the village and see the buildings which are all made from dry-stone. Admire the breathtaking view of the Luberon mountain. (Enjoy its market on Tuesdays. On the other days, a photo stop will be organised.)
From mid-June to mid-July, your tour will include a quick stop at Sénanque Abbey to take pictures of the eye-catching lavender field in bloom.
Next stop on the tour is to the Luberon village of Roussillon and its colorful ochre houses. (Enjoy its market on Thursdays).
Get a taste of Provençal life by strolling through one of the most beautiful Provençal market towns in the Luberon: Lourmarin. (Enjoy its market on Fridays). This village is also famous for its Renaissance castle.
On Saturdays only, you can also discover the city of Apt, famous for the production of candied-fruits.
Did you know? Provence benefits from an exceptional climate? It is bathed by the sun and has always been a fertile ground for growing fruit! Its worldwide reputation comes from Pope Urban V in the 15th century who tasted the candied fruits while he was on a pilgrimage.
Next on your tour of Provence's markets and villages is a visit to L'Isle sur la Sorgue. Walk along the various canals and discover the antique shops. (Stop only on Sunday for the market). Did you know? There are more than 300 antique shops in l'Isle sur Sorgue, you may find many gems during your holidays in Provence!
The last stop of the day is to Fontaine de Vaucluse. Walk up to the cave from which the River Sorgue emerges and admire the beautiful panorama from there.
There will be free time for lunch (not included) on your own during the day.
Your tour ends when you drive back to Aix-en-Provence.
